Chateau Beychevelle is undoubtedly one of the trendiest wines coming out of Bordeaux these days. Under new ownership since 2011, Chateau Beychevelle begun to grab the attention of international critics and wine lovers, who noticed a clear breath of fresh air funnelling into this majestic property, known by many as the Versailles of Bordeaux.
Higher density of planting, which increased vine competition, was a pivotal step for increasing quality. A conversion to organic complemented the recipe, offering the right environment for the vines to deliver grapes of perfect maturity and vibrant tension. In 2020 we see the culmination of a decade long project aimed at raising Chateau Beychevelle to the highest echelons of the appellation. The latest 2020 vintage is nothing short of mesmerising. Antonio Galloni was literally seduced by the hypnotic juice in his glass - "Sexy, alluring and impossible to resist", the critic comments, before awarding one of the highest scores to date - 94-96 Points. This quality assessments perfectly matches the one from wine colleague, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, who articulates on the flavours and nuances jumping out of the glass - "fresh black cherries and cassis, plus hints of wild sage, chocolate mint, rose hip tea and fallen leaves, with an exotic hint of Indian spices." Chateau Beychevelle 2020 comes to market at a slight 5% price increase on vintage 2019, while bearing a decisively higher score ( 2019: 92-94 | 2020: 94-96). Prices for Beychevelle follow the traditional trend where age and score command higher prices, making this new release an alluring proposition for any wine lover seeking value, quality and long term cellaring.

"The 2020 Beychevelle opens with the most exotic bouquet imaginable. Wild flowers of all sorts, spice, lavender and inky dark fruit all saturate the palate. As always, Beychevelle is an overt, flamboyant wine, but all of the elements are so well out together. The 2020 is sexy, alluring and impossible to resist. Time in the glass brings out redder tonalities of fruit along with sweet floral notes that add striking inner perfume. Even as a barrel sample, I am so tempted to just drink it. Drink 2030-2055"
